Carl Frederic Aagaard was a Danish Artist. After his initial studies, Aagard left his native city at the age of 19, to take studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and became a pupil of the landscape painter Peter Christian Skoovgaard, who will always have a great influence on him. In 1857 Aagaars presented his works for the first time to the public in a local exhibition having an unexpected success. Between 1875 and 1876 he visited Italy to learn about its natural and artistic beauties. From these trips he reported many sketches that he used, back in his studio in Copenhagen, as a base for these oil paintings.
